I hereby request all Libertarians to recognize group rights

That's right!

"I hereby request all Libertarians to recognize group rights"

Why?

Because groups do have rights as well, and not just individuals.

If you're a libertarian, and don't think groups have rights, or that those rights should sometimes trump individual rights, then I want you to stop calling yourself a libertarian, because that term is a word for a group of people, and if you really believe the individual should have ultimate power, then you don't need the label.

I on the other hand do. And I want to see it grow. So we have to get rid of that fringe in the party, make them realize that they aren't really libertarian at all if they can't see the value and freedom that can and does come with group rights.

OK?

That said. Group rights certainly do not ALWAYS trump Individual rights. And nor do Individual rights ALWAYS trump Group rights.

So find the balance. Be the change. Do whatever it is that will allow you to see libertarians in this light, and demonstrate this if you are a libertarian yourself.

2006 Elections & Libertarianism

Well I voted on Tuesday, my first Election since officially declaring myself Libertarian!

I was please to see the Libertarian Party as a Choice for my "Vote All" category, as well as the constitution party in my home state of Kentucky :)

However, I was disappointed not to see any Libertarian candidates on my ballot :(

I did hear from a co-worker that he had a Libertarian Choice on his ballot, which was nice :D

Here are the Kentucky Libertarian Election Results:
Kentucky
U.S. House, District 4
Brian Houillion
5.8% FINAL
U.S. House, District 6
Paul Ard
13.8% FINAL
US House, 3rd District
Donna Mancini
1% FINAL

And here is a link to all Libertarian Election Results:
http://www.lp.org/index_2006.html

All in all I guess the election went OK all things considered. As you can see the party is slowly growing and gaining power. The Libertarians won 8 seats this season!!!

Listening to the candidates I could here that many already had Libertarian ideals, and were running under Republican or Democrat banners. This is GOOD for America! As the parties get more and more diversified its going to be harder and harder to get BS through!

Smaller Government. Less Taxes. Protection of Our Liberties & Property. Upholding the Constitution. Persuasion versus Force. Getting out of Iraq, in 1 year, as the Libertarians proposed a while back (June 29th, 2005 to be exact), just look at the plan:

So I must say, all in all I am pleased with how things are going.

War! What is it good for? Answer: Taxes

Tthe libertarian point of view is one of non-intervention.

True non-intervention though. We have several hundred thousand troops deployed world wide, not including iraq or afgahnistan. Although we support afghanistan 100%, and would actually have liked to seen more troops their, but that's another topic.
Why do the American people need to pay for this with their hard earned tax dollars?
The best way to bring about democracy is through free trade. No countries with free trade have ever attacked each other, and free trade, and freedom in general, is the best way to democracy.
The truth is more people have died than will be saved. Many of whom had nothing to do with WMD's, Terrorism, Saddam or whatever fear factor....

If we want to go after terrorist, fine. But no need for a war or occupation(s) for that...
we could have taken saddam out many other ways, if only we supported the ICC more, but alas we are too greedy with our power, like most other things in America. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE IT!

But really we could go around in circles all night long. Its not like this war is all bad, it does have its postives, the bottom line for me is this, I don't want to spend my tax dollars on it. Much in the same way many don't want to spend (and shouldn't have to!) their tax dollars on abortion.

I want small government, geared towards an individualist society.

You are the Ultimate Authority over your Self

Always remember that. You are the Ultimate Authority over your Self.

No one should get to tell you what you get to do to you. Period.

Now, you can be told not to harm others. Precisely because you are NOT the Ultimate Authority over other Selves.

Make sense?

This is Individual Liberty. Embrace it, and you will love it...

Every Opinion Matters

That's what Freedom is all about. Combine that with Liberty, and you will have a happy society.

As much freedom and safety as possible. Protect the society at all costs, and every opinion in that soceity. And ever person in that society. So long as that person is not harming another.

But what is harm? Is it just physical? How physical? What about mental? Spiritual?

Where do you draw the lines?

You draw them where Freedom and Liberty meet.

I can't spell them all out for you, but I also cannot say it any more clearly.

Criminal Justice Reform

I think a lot of our crime problems would go away if we went after real CRIME.

In others words, legalize prostitution, gambling (poker at your own house), and decriminalize drugs. Probably even re-lagalize weed.

All gradual of course. Society has to change at a steadied pace. But this is a major and crucial part of Criminal Justice Reform.

Let's stop going after people who aren't hurting people. So that we can focus on those that are!
